Holiday Thoughts

I had a whole litany of things planned for today's blog, which is, quite obviously, the first in a LONG dry streak.  Not really sure what happened to them, but I'm fairly certain they fell between going to Walmart in what had been the end of the blizzard this morning and stripping the lights and ornaments off the quickly dying Christmas tree.  Perhaps it's for the best.  My cold is getting me - whether it gets me in trouble remains to be seen.

I was disappointed when I called USAA this morning to find out they don't provide motorcycle coverage, either here in the US or in England.  WTF?  Why *tell* me you do, then don't offer it? *mutter*  Any of my British friends have an idea about who I can get coverage through?

I've got 3 days to start feeling better from this damn cold before Andrea comes in.  It's awesome that she was willing to spend New Year's in bum-f*** nowhere, just to visit little ole me! :P

I had been planning to go see Avatar again today, but I somehow doubt the rest of the audience would enjoy my ever-present sniffling.  I think it would take away from the epic awesomeness that is James Cameron's vision.  I *must* see it in iMAX at some point - I hope it's still playing in the one in London when I get there in just over 3 weeks. :P

I've still got a ton of things to sell before I can consider myself done with that.  The only issue I have is that I sold a lot of it to people at work, and most of them probably expect me to deliver it to the office.  That would imply that I have any desire whatsoever to load all that crap in my truck solo.  No can do, my friend.  I'm tempted to see if I can pay some day laborers to get this stuff out of my house.  I think they could pull it off in an hour.  That'd be nice.

On a random side note, does anyone want me to actually finish my novel, "Trail of Bloodcrumbs?"  It's a rather random question, which coincidentally matches the rather random title, but it's a valid question nonetheless.  I haven't received any comments recently on it, though to be fair, it hasn't been updated in ages. :P

Do I still have any readers?

I'm writing a novel

Yeah, I suppose it's rather cliche to admit that I'm making an attempt at writing a large piece of fiction. Isn't everyone and their brother trying to write something like that?

Mine starts off simple enough. It's about a guy in the woods. He's someone you can relate to, or at least I hope so. He's got complaints just like anybody else. He's also got bigger things going on than even he knows.

Bring in the girl. She doesn't know the first guy. She is terrified about what just happened to her, and in spite of that fear, is very poised and determined. Her self-assured-ness could be off-putting, but that's if they can look beyond her appearance.

Two more guys, these completely different from the first. One, the fun prankster type, the other, a quieter, more reserved type of man. Both probably more prepared for what's coming than any others involved.

Another guy, far too nice, far too generous to do well in any situation save this one...

And the one thing that brings them all together, which isn't what any of them expected...
